Despite her outgoing, forceful, headstrong, and willful personality, Merida does have a playful softness of heart particularly when it comes to her younger triplet brothers, Harris, Hubert, and Hamish. She is also skilled in sword-fighting and racing across the countryside on her horse, Angus. Merida has honed her skill in archery and is one of the most skilled archers ever seen. Despite Elinor's desire to see Merida as a proper royal lady, Merida is an impetuous girl who wants to take control of her own destiny. Queen Elinor's expectations of her daughter cause Merida to see Elinor as being distant while also causing friction between the two. Jolene added: “That’s the name we all use even when he’s running in big races - it must really confuse other racegoers around us.” Rhys nicknamed the horse “Fred” which is the name all the family call him. His younger sister, Aimee, 15, has been a rock for Rhys and is horse-mad as well.” He has a mental age of around six years old but when he is around horses he is a different boy. “He loves going down to the yard to see all the horses and feeding them carrots. It’s lovely to see the horse being so successful on the track but so helpful with Rhys off it. He’s a pocket rocket on the racecourse but a real character off it. “But when he is around Live In The Dream and the other horses in the yard he is so happy. He is autistic, suffers from epilepsy and has a non-cancerous brain tumour which until recently has been under the watchful eye of Great Ormond Street Hospital. His mum Jolene, 44, said: “Live In The Dream is absolutely brilliant for Rhys.
